Rosina isn't sure what to pack. Luckily, the hospital is only fifteen minutes away. I feel for those people who have to make a four hour trek to the city to be treated or take care of someone. We are lucky not just to be close to great hospitals, but to doctors and care (and friends) that are as good as anyone could hope for.The picture above is from last Thursday, June 21st. That was Rosina's father's birthday. He lived a block from Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro and used to walk on the beach every day, so she makes an effort to take a walk on a beach every June 21st. This was in Santa Monica with our friend Susan.
My parents made it out from Philadelphia this weekend and we had a good visit. They are on their way back early Monday. The timing was good as the hospital admission was delayed. Several people stopped by with spirited well wishes, food, music, books, bears, noteooks, gelato...and kind words. I sort of hesitate to mention everyone by name as there are so many thanks, but THANKS!We continue to learn and get more information about all this stuff going on and I will deliver it as I know it. I should have more info on blood donations for transfusions, bone marrow transplant donor registry, and visiting hours/policies/practicalities tomorrow or a little later. Rosina is feeling strong, and naturally a bit scared, wary, and sad about the whole affair, but not any real self-pity. No cries of "why me?". To that we kind of have to say "why anybody?" The goal is to look ahead, take one step at a a time, and look forward to her standing on the beach with that same smile next June 21st. And kick cancer's ass. Peace! xo ph

Kevin and Eric went with me yesterday (Dick was working) to get a most beautiful plant (named Rosina) to care for, and every time we see it we all send strong, loving thoughts your way. (Wish I could post a photo).
